The Orwell Bridge carries the A14 across the River Orwell and past Ipswich. It was opened in 1982, then numbered A45, and engineered by Sir William Halcrow and partners.

It was opened on 17 December 1982 by David Howell, Transport Secretary, along with the Ipswich Southern Bypass. The bridge had the longest pre-stressed concrete span in the UK.
