Parliament Square is a busy, signalised junction in the centre of Ramsey. It is the end point for three A roads, the A3, which heads west across the island, the A9, which heads north and the A18 Mountain Road, which heads south to Douglas. A fourth arm, Parliament Street, is the main shopping street in the town, and is one-way eastbound. Because the A18 passes through the main body of the elongated square, and meets the other routes on its northern side, it alone is wide enough to have two turning lanes, although one is a right turn lane into the town centre, and therefore perhaps not so well used. The Square lies on the Island's TT Circuit, with the race route being from the A3 onto the A18.
There are still (2023) the faint shadows of old road markings visible on the road surface, even though the current layout predates 2010. These show that Parliament Street was previously two-way, and had two stop lines where it met the former A18 - A9 through route. The painted 'kerb line' between the A18 and Parliament Street has been moved back across the body of the square with the changes made to the junction, with an increased paved area on the opposites side of the street. The right turn lane from the A18 also appears to have been added at that time.
The rest of the Square is given over to a small parking area, forming a short one-way loop accessed from Parliament Street and leading out onto the A18.
