Peterborough Council

Peterborough City Council is the Highway Authority for all roads in the Administrative County of Peterborough, with the exception of Trunk Roads which are managed by National Highways.

It came into being in 1998 having been granted autonomy from Cambridgeshire County Council, who had administered the area since 1974. The majority of the council area lies within the historic county of Northamptonshire, though the eastern part around Thorney lies within the historic county of Cambridgeshire and the area south of the River Nene is in Huntingdonshire.
