The R565 is a scenic U shaped route in County Kerry.
Starting on the N70, it proceeds south-west from Aghnagar Bridge on the northern side of the Ivereagh Peninsula, 4.5 km south of Caherciveen. After 11 km it reaches Portmagee, where the R565 continues right over the Maurice O'Neill Memorial Bridge to Valentia Island, while the route around the peninsula continues as the R566.
Once on the island the R565 turns right after 400 m and carries on north-eastward, parallel to its earlier course on the mainland. It passes through Chapeltown and reaches Knightstown after 6.5 km, where the summer traveller can make their way back to the N70 by a ferry.
