The R927 is a short route connecting the centre of Carrickmacross in County Monaghan to the N2 south-east and north of the town. It starts at a GSJ on the N2 Carrickmacross bypass to the south-east of the town, and passes along a 1.1 km link road (Oriel Road) built in 2005 when the N2 bypass of the town opened. This section passes through a roundabout junction with the R178. At the end of this new section, the R927 turns right at a T-junction with the former N2; the former N2 south of this point to the left is now the L4922. The R927 then continues northwards for 2.9 km along the former route of the N2 via the main street of Carrickmacross to a GSJ junction with the N2 north of the town.
