The R999 (Wicklow Port Access Road / Bóthar Rochtana Chalafort Chill Mhantáin) is a route, completed in April 2010, that links the R750 at Bollarney, north-west of the town centre, to Wicklow Port.
The number "R999" is used in the Traffic Signs Manual as a placeholder number on sample road signs. Given that there is no number like this used in Wicklow, and there is no number close to this allocated at all, there is a credible rumour that the placeholder number was allocated to this road in error.
