Rafael roundabout / cylchfan Rafael is situated on highish ground 1.2 km SW of Fishguard, at the point where the new direct route of the A40 heads off on its direct northward course towards Fishguard Harbour ferryport (which is actually located in Goodwick). The old road from here into Fishguard town centre is now signposted as a branch of the A487, although most maps still show it as part of the A40 and new signposting along the old course of the A40/A487 "duplex" through Fishguard town generally omits route numbers altogether...
The location name is probably a form of Yr Efail ("The Smithy"): two local farms are known as Rafael Fach and Rafael Fawr.
