Alterations and amendments in route numbering June - October 1934 (Surrey By-passes extracted).

Dorking Bypass

A24 (London - Worthing)

Route A24 to be diverted from the present line of route at Pippbrook Bridge immediately south of the Southern Railway and to proceed in a general southerly direction east of Dorking skirting the west side of Deepdene Wood and Chart Park and terminating at a junction with the original line of Route A24 about 100 yards north of Holemsdale Road.

The superseded section of Route A24 through Dorking to be renumbered as follows:-

(a) from the northern end of the By-pass at Pippbrook Bride to the junction of the Dorking-Reigate Road (A25) at Lonsdale House ... A2003.

(b) from Lonsdale House via High Street to the junction of High Street, West Street and South Street ... A25.

(c) from the junction of High Street, West Street and South Street to the southern end of the By-pass ... A2003.

A24 General Description unaltered

A25 (Wrotham Heath - Merrow)

This route to be continuous through Dorking from West Street via High Street (ex A24) to Lonsdale House. General Description unaltered

This route number is allotted to the section of A24 from the northern end of the Dorking By-pass at Pippbrook Bridge to the junction with A25 at Lonsdale house, and to the section of A24 from the junction of High Street, West Street and South Street to the southern end of the By-pass. Leatherhead Bypass

A244 (Leatherhead - Bedfont)

Route A244 to be merged with Route A243 (Leatherhead-Surbiton) from the original commencing point of A244 at Leathehead Common southward to the junction of Kingston Road and Barnettwood Lane, continuing thence as a separate route via the northern section of the Leatherhead By-pass, to a new commencing point at a junction with Route A24 (London - Worthing) at Epsom Road, Leatherhead. A24 (London - Worthing)

To be diverted at a junction with the new commencing point of A244 at Epsom Road, Leatherhead and to proceed south-east crossing Reigatebush Road (B2033) at Yarm Court Cottages thence westward to a junction with the Leatherhead - Dorking road (A24) north of Givon's Grove.

The superseded section of Route A24 to be renumbered as follows:-

(a) from the point of diversion at Epsom Road to the junction of High Street and The Crescent ... A246 (extension).

(b) from the junction of Church Street and The Crescent to the south-western end of the By-pass ... A243 (extension).

(c) The Crescent, Leatherhead to be declassified.

A243 (Leatherhead - Surbiton)

Extended southward from the junction of Church Street and The Crescent, Leatherhead (ex A24) to a new commencing point at the junction of Dorking Road and the south western end of the Leatherhead By-pass. General Description unaltered

A246 (Leatherhead - Guildford)

Extended eastward from the junction of High Street and The Crescent, Leatherhead via Epsom Road (ex A24) to a new commencing point at the junction of Epsom Road and the Leatherhead By-pass. General Description unaltered

Guildford and Godalming Bypass

A3 (London - Portsmouth)

Route A3 to be diverted at Boxgrove, Guildford and to proceed in a westerly direction passing north of St. John's Church, Stoke Park to a junction with Woodbridge Road (A321) about 130 yards east of the River Wey, and via Woodbridge Road to a point on the west side of, and immediately adjoining, the Southern Railway turning thence in a general southerly direction, crossing Hog's Back (A31) by a bridge about 220 yards west of Sunnydown Plantation and continuing via Whiteacre Copse to a junction with the Pease Marsh - Puttenham Road (B3000) north of Compton, thence over the line of B3000 to the south east corner of Wanborough Common, and passing the west side of Prior's Wood to Hurtmore Holt and west of Lower Rashing to a junction with the original line of Route A3 and the Milford-Farnham road (B3001) at Manor Lodge, Milford. (The superseded section of Route A3 from the north eastern end of the By-pass at Boxgrove through Guildford to the junction with the By-pass at Manor Lodge , Milford to be renumbered A3100). A31 (Guildford - Bere Regis)

(a) The short communicating road connecting the By-pass with the Guildford - Farnham road at Hog's Back to be included in Route A31 (Hog's Back Spur).

(b) Route A31 to include Park Street, Guildford hitherto numbered A3010.

(Under this arrangement Route A31 will have two connections with Mount Street and High Street). General Description unaltered

A283 (Shoreham - Milford)

To be diverted from the present line of route at the junction with the Haslemere road (A286) at Milford Heath and to proceed in a north-westerly direction via the new road forming the continuation of the Guildford - Godalming By-pass to a termination at the junction with the London-Portsmouth Road (A3) about 100 yards north of the White Lion Inn, Milford. A286 (Milford - Chichester)

To be extended north eastward from its junction with the Milford - Shoreham road (A283) at Milford Heath over the short length of route hitherto included in Route A283 to a new commencing point at the junction with Route A3100 (ex A3) near the Red Lion PH, Milford. General Description unaltered

A321 (Guildford - Henley)

The section of this route commencing at a junction with the Guildford - Godalming By-pass about 130 yards east of the River Wey in Guildford and proceeding in a general westerly direction for a distance of about ¼ mile to a point west of, and immediately adjoining the Southern Railway to be renumbered A3. General Description unaltered

B3000 (E of Farncombe - Hog's Back)

The section of this route incoporated with the Guildford - Godalming By-pass north west of Compton to be renumbered A3 General Description unaltered

A3100 (Guildford By-pass (Section1))

This Route number to be allotted to the superseded section of Route A3 from Boxgrove through Guildfrod and Godalming to a junction with the by-pass and Route B3001 (Milford-Farnham) at Manor Lodge, Milford Boxgrove Milford

A246 (Leatherhead - Guildford)

Boxgrove Road, Guildford, (from a junction with A246 at "Uplands" north westward to a junction with the north-eastern end of the By-pass at Boxgrove) to be classified as a sput of Route A246 (Indicated as A3 (chequer) at its south-eastern end). The present section of A246 from Boxgrove Road to London Road, Guildford, will remain unaltered. General Description unaltered
