Diversion of Route A47

Diversion of Route A47 (Birmingham - Great Yarmouth) between Wisbech and Swaffham-Heath and re-arrangement of ancillary classified routes.

Effective as from April 1st, 1933.

A47 (Birmingham - Great Yarmouth)

To leave the present line of route at the south-east end of Wisbech Bridge and to proceed north-eastward via Lynn Road, Walsoken, Walpole Highway and Tilney (hitherto numbered A141) to Free Bridge, King's Lynn, thence via Free Bridge and Wisbech Road (ex A17) and Hardwick Road (ex A10) King's Lynn, to Hardwick, Middleton, West Bilney, Harborough and a junction with the old line of Route A47 at Swaffham Heath.

The superseded section of Route A47 viz Wisbech-Outwell-Downham Market-Swaffham Heath, to be re-numbered as follows:-

(a) From the south-eastern end of Wisbech Bridge via High Street, Market Place, Church Terrace, Norfolk Street, Elm Road, Elm High Road and Collett's Bridge to a junction with Route A1101 at Scott's Bridge, Outwell ... A1101

(b) From a junction with Route A1101 at Scott's Bridge, Outwell via Outwell Church (east side), Well Creek and Nordelph to a junction with Route A10 (London - King's Lynn) at Downham Market. Recommencing at the junction of High Street and Bexwell Road, Downham Market and proceeding eastward via Strodnett and Fineham to a Junction with the King's Lynn - Swaffham Road at Swaffham Heath ... A1122.

A10 (London - King's Lynn)

To terminate at the junction of the London and Norwich Roads at Hardwick, King's Lynn. The remainder of this route northward to be re-numbered as follows:-

(a) From a junction with the Swaffham amd Downham Market Roads at Hardwick, via Hardwick Road to the meeting point of Wisbech Road, London Road and Vancouver Avenue, King's Lynn ... A47.

(b) From the Wisbech Road - London Road - Vancouver Avenue junction northward via London Road, St James' Road and Railway Road to the original termination of Route A10 at the junction with Norfolk Street ... A149

A10 General Description unaltered

A17 (Newark-upon-Trent - Swaffham)

To terminate at a junction with the new line of Route A47 at the north west end of Free Bridge, King's Lynn, the remainder of this route to Swaffham Heath being renumbered A47 A17 (Newark-upon-Trent - King's Lynn)

A141 (Huntingdon - King's Lynn)

To terminate at a junction with Route A47 at the south-east end of Guyhirne Bridge. The remainder of this route to be re-numbered as follows:-

(a) From a junction with Route A47 at the north-west end of Guyhirne Bridge, thence via Tholowes Drove and Wisbech St Mary to a junction with Royte A150 at the north-west end of Wisbech Bridge. Class II ... B1441.

(b) Wisbech Bridge to be included in Route A1101 which will commence at a junction with Routes A150 and B1441 at the north-west end of Wisbech Bridge ... A1101.

(c) From a junction with Route A47 at the south-east end of Wisbech Bridge via Walpiole Highway and Tilney to the original termination at a junction with Route A17 at the north-west end of Free Bridge, King's Lynn ... A47.

A141 (Huntingdon - Guyhirne Bridge)

A149 (King's Lynn - Great Yarmouth)

To commence at a junction with the new line of Route A47 at the corner of London Road and Vancouver Avenue, King's Lynn, proceeding thence northward over the old line of Route A10 via London Road, St James Road and Railway Road to a junction wth the former commencing point of A149 at Norfolk Street and thenceforward as hitherto to Cromer, Caister and Great Yarmouth. A1027 (Wisbech)

This section of Chapel Road, Wisbech from North Brink to Harecroft Road to be reduced to Class II and renumbered B1442 A1027 Vacant

A1101 (Bury St Edmunds - Outwell Bridge)

To be extended northward from the original commencement at a junction with Route A47 at Scott's Bridge, Outwell over the old line of A47 via Colletts Bridge, Elm High Road, Elm Road, Norfolk Street, Church Terrace, Market Place, High Street Wisbech and Wisbech Bridge to a new commencement point at a junction with Route A150 at the north-west end of Wisbech Bridge. The short connecting section south of Outwell Church will remain part of Route A1101. A1101 (Wisbech - Bury St Edmunds)

Ex A47 (part). Commencing at the junction with Route A1101 at Scott's Bridge, Outwell, and proceeding eastward via Well Creek, Nordelph, Downham Market, Stradsett and Fincham to a junction with Route A47 at Swaffham Heath.

B1441 (Guyhirne - Wisbech)

Ex A141 (part). Commencing at a junction with Route A47 at the north-west end of Guyhirne Bridge and proceeding thence via Tholomes Drove and Wisbech St Mary to a junction with Route A150 at the north-west end of Wisbech Bridge.

B1442 (Link in Wisbech)

Ex A1027. Chapel Road, Wisbech, from a junction with North Brink to Harecroft Road.

NB The general direction of the above routes beyond the limits of the sections described remains unaltered.
