Rimsdale Bridge

Rimsadale Bridge carries the B871 across the Rimsdale Burn in the hills between the Strath of Kildonan and Strathnaver. It is a very simple stone arch with plain abutments and square cut parapets, which between them suggest that it is no older than c1840. Prior to this date, most of the bridges built in the county of Sutherland were constructed by Joseph Mitchell to designs by Thomas Telford, which incorporated a number of features not found on this small arch.

A short distance to the west, another tributary to the Rimsdale Burn is crossed at a small, modern concrete culvert.
