Roffey Corner is a junction on the B2195 on the eastern side of Horsham.
History
It was originally a T junction with the A264 turning northwards. The Roffey Relief Road (Harwood Road) changed it to a crossroads when it opened in July 1973. Traffic Signals were also installed and were of note to be described in the West Sussex County Times. They had a “solar eye” on top to detect the amount of daylight. The bright daylight traffic lights were dimmed at night so as not to blind motorists. Detectors were also installed in the approaches which fed to a box on the corner that worked out traffic volume and speed to change lights accordingly.
It became B2195 when the A264 was routed over the Horsham Northern Bypass in December 1988.
