Crossings related to the A841 | |||
Rosa Bridge crosses the Glenrosa Burn at the northern end of Brodick, just after the A841 swings east to pass along the north shore of Brodick Bay. The bridge is a stone arch bridge, with the road slightly humped as it crosses. Unlike Cloy Bridge a little to the south, the road is a fairly narrow S2 without pavements. The parapet design is unusual, with rubble stonework below ashlar copings. However, these copings are of a variety of shapes, and while laid out symmetrically, it does look as though the masons didn't have enough of any one type of stone, and so just did the best they could with what they had.
Junction
A short distance to the west of the bridge lies the junction between the A841 and B880, known as 'The String'. The A841 at this point is doubling back on itself, with almost a hairpin bend, giving a wide bellmouth to the B880 at what is otherwise a fairly ordinary T junction. The original number of the B880 was the A842, but it was quickly downgraded.
