The Rothes Roundabout lies to the north west of Glenrothes town centre, where Rothes road meets the A911. It is a 4 arm junction with the eastern arm of the A911 and Rothes Road both dualled, whilst the other two approaches split either side of large grass islands. As a new town development, the A911 was moved south on a new alignment past the town centre, away from Cadham and Markinch. It is also quite possible that early plans for the A911 route were much grander than what we see now, perhaps with grade separated junctions. Certainly, the B921 and A92 to the south show evidence for this, but the A911 does not appear to have been so developed.
