Rothiemay Crossroads is sited on the hillside about a mile north of the small village of Milltown of Rothiemay. It is where the B9117 climbs up from the village and crosses the B9022, both routes continuing to meet the A95 a few miles further on. The junction always used to be a straight crossroads, but a slight stagger has been introduced since the 1960s. This has pushed the southern arm of the B9117 a little to the south, the old road line surviving as part of the yard for the garage that sits on the corner. Despite this change, no provision has been made for splitting turning traffic, but the junction is generally a quiet rural one with low traffic flows.
