Sackville Street Junction on the A57(M) is an oddity. It was infamous for its unfinished sliproad which ended in mid-air pointing menacingly at Upper Brook Street which is one-way in the opposite direction. This slip road was removed in 2018 to allow new development as part of the wider Circle Square project which has replaced the former BBC Manchester building prior to its relocation to Media City in Salford.
The final plans (pictured) show that the road would have been rebuilt to accomodate the slip road and the current sliproad onto Sackville Street would have been replaced.
