Schneider Square Roundabout is a large roundabout in Barrow-in-Furness, with the centre island being used for planting around a central statue.
The square is named after Henry Schneider. Schneider moved to Barrow in 1839 and is responsible for the discovery of the massive Burlington iron ore mine near Askam in 1851. He joined with James Ramsden (see Ramsden Square Roundabout to form the Furness Railway Company and the their iron companies later merged to form the Barrow Hematite Steel Company. A statue of Henry Schneider was erected in this location in 1891[1].
