Seán Heuston Bridge is an Iron Arch bridge carries the LUAS mass transit system across the River Liffey in Dublin. The bridge was constructed in in 1827-8 and was named Kingsbridge, to commemorate a visit by King George IV in 1821 - which is why the bridge also bears the date 1821. In 1923 it was renamed Sarsfield Bridge, after Patrick Sarsfield, an Irish Jacobite soldier and, for a time, Member of Parliament for Ireland. In 1941, it was renamed again - this time after Seán Heuston who was executed for his part in the Easter Rising.

In 1980, a two-tonne weight limit was applied to the bridge, causing major traffic disruption. This prompted the urgent construction of Frank Sherwin Bridge, which opened in 1982 and allowed the Seán Heuston Bridge to be closed to traffic.

It was refurbished in 2002 to allow it to carry the LUAS Red Line.
