The Shepherd and Flock Roundabout is a road junction near Farnham, Surrey where the A31 meets the A325. It is named after the pub that sits in the middle of the roundabout.
The pub was originally on the mainline of the A31, but became isolated inside the roundabout when the A325 was diverted away from the town centre in 1973, allowing all through traffic except the A287 to use the A31, that had bypassed the town since 1946.
Around 1995, following completion of the A331 Blackwater Valley Road and dualling of the A31 between Guildford and Alton, there was pressure to grade separate the A31 through the roundabout, which would have destroyed the pub. These plans were later abandoned.
Though the creation of the A331 has reduced the importance of the junction, it remains a congestion hotspot. Westbound traffic on the A31 has a free flow lane through the roundabout, while eastbound traffic must queue, which can create tailbacks to the previous junction, Hickley's Corner at peak periods. Traffic signals were installed at the junction in 2000.
