South Bellsdyke Roundabout is at the eastern end of the A88 Stenhousemuir Northern Bypass, where the route terminates on the A905. The junction is a simple 3-arm roundabout, with the A88 meeting the A905 at right angles. The A905 to the north is dualled, reflecting its former time as a multiplex but otherwise the junction is unexciting and lies in a flat landscape.
As alluded to above, the junction was once somewhat more important in Scotland's road network. Prior to the completion of the M876 a short distance to the north, the A88 carried the A876 number. For a short distance to the north of South Bellsdyke, the A876 multiplexed with the A905, before it turned east once more at Bowtrees. This, then, was the main route between Glasgow and the Kincardine Bridge, which for decades was the lowest crossing point of the Forth, other than by ferry.
