St Albans is a historic city situated near Watling Street. It is the only place outside London, Edinburgh and Carlisle where more than two road numbering zones meet a point - in this case the '4', '5' and '6' zones at the Peahen Crossroads where the A5183 (former A5) meets the A1081 (former A6). Due to the layout of the pedestrian crossings here, it is therefore possible to walk from Zone 4 to Zone 6 without entering Zone 5.
