After climbing up through Alarm Forest, the A2 reaches its summit at Hutts Gate, just below Halleys Mount. There are 2 right turns, one either side of St Matthews Church, the first climbs steeply, and doubles back to head across the island to The Dungeon, and so on to White Gate at St Pauls. The second is a no entry road, which forms part of the junction with the Levelwood Road. The A2 then curves around to the left, past Hutts Gate Stores and another right turn allows traffic to turn off to head off for Levelwood.
At present this is the only point of entry to Longwood, but with the construction of the Haul Road Longwood will have a slightly shorter and definitely faster route down to Jamestown, which will make this junction a lot quieter than it is at present.
