St Johns Bridge crosses the River Thames on the A417. It is on the borders of Gloucestershire and Berkshire, but by a quirk of local government boundary review now administered wholely by Gloucestershire Council. The original bridge was built by a local prior in 1229 on the line of an old ford and there have been bridges on the site since then.
