Stonehouse Corner is a roundabout on the A1090 in Purfleet. The name of the junction appears on the Advance Direction Signs approaching the roundabout.
At initial classification, Stonehouse Corner was a T-Junction between London Road (the A126 at the time), and Stonehouse Lane. The junction is called this, as there was a stone house opposite the lane. In 1925 the A126 was re-routed onto the newly constructed Purfleet Bypass, with the A1090 being given the number of the old road through Purfleet. The stone house itself was demolished at this time to make way for the road improvements[1]. With the construction of the M25 in the 1980s the A126 was diverted to meet the new motorway at Purfleet Interchange (although it never actually reached the junction, ending on the then-A13 just before); and the the A1090 was given the old route with the section through Purfleet losing its primary classification.
