Tadcaster Bridge crosses the River Wharfe east of the town centre. It is currently on the A659 but was originally on the A64 prior to the building of Tadcaster By Pass. The bridge is early 18th century and is reputedly built of stone taken from the old castle.
The bridge partially collapsed after heavy rain and flooding in December 2015, reopening just over a year later in February 2017. The opportunity was taken during the reconstruction to cantilever the pavements out over the side of the bridge. As much of the old stonework as possible was reused, so the surviving sections of parapets were dismantled and re-erected on the new, wider deck.
