Talk:A374

Dan: many thanks for the summary of Gdynia Way changes. I appreciate them as it's well over a year since I was last in Plymouth and able to see for myself how things were progressing. They are certainly worth mentioning as they've brought about a major change to traffic flows along the A374 (and, to a lesser extent, the A379) in Plymouth's East End. I hope you won't mind, therefore, if I have a go at reworking this section, as it wasn't quite clear to me, before looking at Plymouth City Council's maps relating to the scheme, exactly how the new arrangements work on the ground.

As you will see, I've already rewritten the Marsh Mills to Torpoint Ferry route description, and attempted, as part of that, to make the Gdynia Way references "neutral" as to before-and-after, but I believe (like you, I think) that the new scheme does deserve treatment -- especially since it involved so much local upheaval! -- Viator 19:34, 16 January 2013 (GMT)

Viator What PCC have done is not that difficult to understand on the ground - it's translating it into words that can become difficult! The A379 is even worse to describe, even more so since the actual signage on the ground is confusing. As suggested by the road signs, the former eastbound A374 route along Embankment Road is still designated that number as the A379 is in brackets until you reach the split, which would mean that the bus lane and local access roads are still part of the A374. Points taken. On the principle that a picture paints a thousand words, I did prepare a sketch map some time ago -- which helped 'me anyway! Just need to find some time to make it "presentable", and then I'll probably add it to the page. -- Viator 12:30, 6 March 2013 (GMT)
