I have a copy of the 1977 1:50 000 map. On that one there is no number shown for this stretch but the dual carriageway around Stirchley is the A518. The road labelled B5061 on the 1983 map is coloured red in 1977 and, as the shortest such route between two sections of the A5 (T) is probably also the A5. The A442 takes a left at Sutton Hill and then runs west of Brookside and through Dawley, Lawley and Wellington. I’d guess this piece of road was regarded as a linking part of the A518 in 1977. --Cavrdg (talk) 09:54, 26 May 2017 (BST)
