i grew up in the village of Hockliffe and even went to school on this route but what amazes me is the amount of numbers this road has had. First it was the A506 then the A50 then for a few months it was the A5130 before turning into the B528 (I remember being confused by this while walking past the ever changing sign posts on the way to school) then coming to be the A4012 after cambers being made on the bends and now it has been demoted again to the B5704! the road up to the second Battlesden junction is in fact a new road from when the duke of bedford wanted it moved either in the 18th/19th century the original route can be seen on the Charles and David copies of the first ordnance survey maps, & can be seen as a crop mark on google earth! it may have gone through the gates of the White Horse coaching house in Hockliffe and where it came out on the second Battlesden junction opposite the battlesden road was a pub called the Greyhound!
