Beacon Cross is one of many ancient junctions that lie on the Mendip Plateau in Somerset. It is where the A367 from Bath terminates on the A37 Bristol to Yeovil route, just a couple of miles north of Shepton Mallet.
A little to the south, and essentially part of the same junction, an unclassified route crosses at a crossroads, and provides a fast link between Wells and Frome for those in the know, bypassing Shepton and the villages of the A371/A361 route.
