The City is the oldest part of London, parts dating from AD43. This area is wholly covered by The City of London Corporation and is mainly a business area. Though the City is mainly a business area, there are some touristy things here like St Paul's Cathedral, the Great Fire Monument and the Museum of London.

Bank forms the hub of the English road network, being the meeting point of A3, A10, A11, A40 and A501, with the A1 and A4 also starting in the City. The "ring of steel" anti-terrorism measures installed in the early 1990s saw most of the roads inside The City declassified
