Thurlaston Interchange is the terminal junction 1 of the M45 to the south of Rugby in Warwickshire. It was constructed with the M1 in 1959, and at the time formed a key junction on the main route between London and Birmingham. The junction is much quieter today following the opening of the M6 to the north and the M40 to the south, taking away most of the Birmingham traffic.
There is a lay-by to the north west of the junction which utilises part of the former A45 which was made surplus as a through route following the construction of the interchange.
