Tollbar Junction on the A98 is the western end of the A942 which serves the coastal town of Buckie and villages to the east. It takes its name from the old Tollbar Cottage that stood in the northwest corner of the junction until 1968 when it was demolished in an attempt to improve safety at the junction. Later, the minor road to Deskford to the south was realigned further west to provide a staggered crossroads. The A98 has also been widened to provide a pair of right turn lanes in the centre for each junction, although it is rare for there to be much traffic for the Deskford Road, the A942 can be a busy road into Buckie.
The junction is also now sometimes referred to as the Buckie Junction or Inchgower Crossroads since the removal of Tollbar Cottage.
