Tom Long's Post is a junction of six roads on on the A419 between Stroud and Cirencester. At the junction is a fingerpost bearing this name.
As with nearby Chapmans Cross, the exact origin of the name is uncertain, however, it is speculated by the Minchinhampton Local History Society that the name could be a point where Tom Long was buried, or a favoured spot for a highwayman, or a reference to a carrier from the 16th-19th century[1]. It is probable that the origin will remain lost in history.
