Torvean Roundabout is a proposed new junction in Inverness, which is due to open no later than 2020. It will connect phase two of the Inverness West Link project to the A82. This will see a new canal bridge built over the Caledonian Canal to the south west of the existing Tomnahurich Bridge, and ensure that the road into Inverness is never closed - with traffic directed over whichever bridge is closed (to the canal and open to road traffic). The new road over the bridge is to be numbered as the primary A8082.
A fourth arm to the junction will see General Booth Road diverted to the new roundabout. This road is already signed as the preferred HGV route into the city from the south, despite being unclassified. The main reason for the delay in delivering this part of the project is the need to reconstruct Torvean Golf Course, over which much of the new roads pass, before the existing land can be released.
Signage is partially guesswork at present, until roundabout is completed.
