Crossings related to the A698 | |||||
Twizel Bridge (also spelt as Twizell Bridge) is a single span stone arch bridge across the River Till. Built in the Early 16th Century, it formed part of the A698, until it was bypassed by a new bridge to the south in 1983.
The bridge is listed and is a scheduled monument. By 2020 it appeared on English Heritage's Heritage at Risk Register as a result of damage from repeated vehicle impacts[1].
The information from Heritage England isn't clear on whether it is listed at Grade I (which the Scheduled Monument listing states), or Grade II* (which the Heritage at Risk register states)
