The UNECE is the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. As well as covering geographical Europe (minus Vatican City), it covers Canada, Cyprus, Israel, Turkey, the USA, and the former USSR.

It administrates several important international agreements, treaties, and collaborations on roads.

  • European Agreement on Main International Traffic Arteries (AGR) [1] - The E Roads network.
  • Convention on Road Traffic [2] (European Agreement supplementing it [3])
  • Convention on Road Signs and Signals [4] - also know as the Vienna Convention
  • Trans-European Motorways [5] - building a network of motorway in east and central Europe.

AGR

The E Roads network covers all UNECE countries, save Albania (recently ratified treaty, hasn't requested route extensions into its territory), Canada, Cyprus, Iceland, Israel, Malta and the USA (all non-contiguous with rest of network).
