My Background

66 year old retired software engineer Left school at 16 to became a Technical Apprentice at ICI in 1968, worked there until 1973 Then spent the next 10 years in Construction in the Petrochemical and Nuclear fields. Went back to college in 1983 to study Computer Aided Enginnering Became a road warrior again this time working in Engineering Sofware

Middlesbrough, Lydd, Harrow, Edgware, Singapore - 3 months, Columbus Ohio - 3 years, Gamlingay South Cambs - 20 years, Marton in Cleveland - 2 years and counting

USA, Old US Route 66 , Skyline Drive (Appalachians), US National Route 40 New Jersey to Utah US I-80 Utah to Sacramento, US I-5 San Diego to Seattle, US I-90 Seattle to South Dakota

Canada Alaskan Highway from Calgary to Valdez Alaska, Prince Rupert to Calgary via Jasper and Banff, Toronto to Thunder Bay via Sault St Marie

Australia Stuart Highway Darwin to Alice Springs and Uluru, Adelaide to Melbourne via Great Ocean Highway, A1 Brisbane to Townvilled

Europe Calais to Tuscany via the Susten Pass and the St Gotthard Tunnel and back via the Mont Blanc Tunnel, Dunkerque to Lake Constance via the Rhineland, US I-70 Coast to Coast)


Significant Railway Journeys

NYC to Toronto via Amtrak, Alice Springs to Adelaide on Ghan, Moscow to Leningrad as it was overnight in Febuary !


Other Interests

Photography - bought my first SLR in 1972, History , Music (1350 Albums and climbing), Books (had to switch to ebooks when I ran out of shelf space)
