The Wednesbury Interchange is located on the M6 at junction 9, where it meets the A461 south of Walsall.
Whilst the junction is a standard grade-separated roundabout in layout, it is in an extremely constrained location, with housing immediately to the north of the junction. Whilst the M6 runs over the top of the roundabout, underneath the roundabout is a railway line running parallel to the motorway. This means that the sliproads on the southern side of the junction are extremely tightly aligned. The M6 is also on a viaduct meaning that there is very little merge space on entry, causing sightline issues.
The presence of the large retail park in the southwestern corner of the junction can lead to it becoming overloaded outside peak hours.
It is signed from M6 as the non-Primary Destination of Wednesbury, and neither of the nearby large towns of Walsall or Dudley appear on exit signage from the motorway, despite being directly accessed from A461 via this junction.

M6 J9 Under Construction 1968-9
One of the UK's busiest sections of motorway, junction 9 shown as it was back in the late 1960s when it was under construction. Little did they realise just how busy it would become.
