West Stockwith Bridge

West Stockwith Bridge is a bridge crossing the River Idle in North Nottinghamshire. Situated in the centre of West Stockwith village, it is the last bridge on the Idle - in fact the confluence of the Idle and the Trent is just a few feet away to the east. As the River Trent is tidal at this point, and has a tidal bore just like the Severn (called the Aegir), there is a tidal lock just upstream of the bridge.
There is no crossing of the Trent to East Stockwith at this point (there used to be a ferry), but just to the southwest of this bridge, there is another bridge, providing a crossing over the Chesterfield Canal.
