Whites Cross is a signalized crossroads in County Dublin, where the N11 crosses the R113.
It has been allocated the number junction 1 of the N11, marking the start of the long journey to Wexford. At the previous junction to the north, all traffic not heading towards Wexford is advised to turn off the N11.
The N11 through here is one of the oldest dual carriageways in Ireland. At the time it was a rural area, but this area is now densely populated with Dublin suburbs. As a result, this road suffers from commuter congestion, and in 1999 it became the site of Ireland's first quality bus corridor, which runs through this junction.
A temporary plan for the M50 proposed in the 1970s involved diverting all traffic along what's now the R113. Objectors to that proposal argued that Whites Cross would need to be grade separated for that to happen. A later proposal from the 1980s had the Southern Cross Route ending at Whites Cross.
