Whorral Bank Roundabout is a roundabout in Northumberland. It was constructed in the mid 2000s as part of the A197 Pegswood Bypass. The A197 runs between the A1 at Fair Moor and Newbiggin by the Sea. The B1337 from Widdrington also joins here.
Before roundabout and bypass were both built this junction was a simple TOTSO slightly to the north of where the roundabout is today. This can clearly be seen on satellite images as a horizontal strip between the B1337 and the road into Pegswood.
The roundabout now has had a fifth exit added to it due the opening of the Morpeth Northern Bypass in April 2017. The new bypass has become the mainline of the A197 and the old A197 into Morpeth is now the B1337. This means that at the point of the roundabout the A197 will have gone from north-south to east-west in the past decade!
