Woodlands Roundabout is situated on the B1256 (former A120) to the west of Great Dunmow. It was constructed prior to the opening of the modern A120 Great Dunmow bypass. For many years, it served only a handful of houses and a supermarket; however, in the mid 2010s, as the housing developments to the west of Great Dunmow neared completion, the access road for these was completed to link with the B184 to the north of the town, providing Dumnow with a north/south bypass for the first time.
