The C28K starts at a crossroads on the A93 opposite the A957 turning at Crathes, and heads in a northerly direction along a fairly straight road. A sharp left turn is quickly followed by a sharp right, and then the route continues north, meandering a bit more as it passes through Hirn to reach the B977 north of Kilduthie.
