C40L (Aberdeenshire)

The C40L starts on the A98 near the centre of Banff and heads west along Boyndie Street, before kinking left into Gallowhill Street, which leads to a roundabout. Here the C40L curves south west onto Whinhill Road, and some of the preceeding route was originally numbered as the C111L, although it is not clear which bit. It is possible, therefore, that the C40L originally approached the roundabout down Duncan Street from the north. Continuing south west, Whinhill Road leads down to the B9121 near Wester Culbeuchly. The final section of the route then curves round to the west to meet the C39L a short distance beyond the main road.
