The C46M starts in Alford town centre at a junction with the A944 and C46M. Strictly speaking, the two C roads now meet before the A944, and it is not clear which number actually reaches the main road, although the lining gives priority to the C46M. It then follows Greystone Road west to meet the C45M near Greystone.
