The C5L starts on the B9022 at a staggered crossroads with the B9023 at Brodiesord and heads west, turning southwest. It passes a scattering of houses and farms, which seem to be called Bogmuchals by the council, although this is only the name of one property. Towards the southern end of this scattered community, the C4L turns right, and shortly after the C3L turns left, and then the C5L runs up to the council boundary below the Hill of Inverkindling. The road continues through Edingight to reach the A95.
