I wonder if the person in charge of the relavant highways authority ever look at this thread.
I hope not, I love the fact that these signs are still around and have not been replaced!

What's strange about that? Here's two similarly advising drivers how to avoid being caught out by turning restrictions.

I think they are not that common / widely used. Especially for a street that has little importance.

It's not clear whether Elton Street is the street where the left turn is banned or the street you turn into.

Saw this Airport sign today - legendary! (A bit off the beaten track admittedly but probably dates from the main road going through Sadberge!)

Hi!

Shouldn't this old primary relic have been replaced in white when the A683 Bay Gateway opened?

https://maps.app.goo.gl/tmzC5TJAnY7YjaaQ6

. . .as well as this?

https://maps.app.goo.gl/Tq5d2igxRgemRGcF7

. . .and this?

https://maps.app.goo.gl/BnNjY35Fzun42FVT9

. . .and more to the point, whose daft idea was it to perpetuate brand new green ADS on the Morecambe side of the A589/A683 Bay Gateway traffic lights near McD's when there was also originally a correct white–background "Morecambe A589" flag pointer sign erected there, now replaced with an incorrect green one?

So the A589 mysteriously goes from primary to non–primary somewhere between Shrimp Inn roundabout and Broadway (the one approaching the A5105 Marine Road junction is correctly in white), but where?

. . .But somebody's worked out the A589 going towards Lancaster and the A683 Bay Gateway is non–primary, so they do a bodge–job of patching "A589" in white, except both the A589 pointer "flag" signs are old green ones so no marks here, nor for the LH roundabout cutout either:–

https://maps.app.goo.gl/rBTbSFRYAY2g1vBT9

. . .and what's more to the point, "M6 North" should have been deleted from the "Carnforth" arm on the left as the Bay Gateway provides a high standard access to both directions of the M6 now with no need for traffic to trail thro' Hest Bank, Bolton–le–Sands and Carnforth any more from here!

Blue border alert:–

https://maps.app.goo.gl/DQAsQB8KCjcrPhTh6

. . .and wrong as well as there's no ferry symbol here either!

External consultancy did all the Bay Gateway signs as I understand it. Obviously the right people at LCC didn't get near it as there are people there who would have torn this a new one if they were involved.

Now this road in Buckfastleigh will lead to an A road whichever way I go, but which one?

It's certainly not clear from this sign!

Looks like someone removed or covered over A38 deliberately after the bypass opened?

On the 2009 GSV the numbers are there but faded - looks like fairly typical sign degradation; this happened a lot to signs of this vintage, the yellow lettering was Scotchlite overlay on top of a non-reflective background. I'm not sure why it's only affected the numerals though!

Todays manky sign. This was hidden behind another fence along Oil sites road, Stanlow. A quick smash and grab was in order before security were on the case !

I drove past here today and that one has sadly been removed. :( (ref sign outside Albert dock Liverpool)

It's been white-on-red for as long as I can remember it. I assume there had been major work on the A561 route at some point, and the signed alternative route would have been via Mather Avenue to the A562. Or perhaps it was a bodge from the start, but it seems like a strange place to put a solitary 'City Centre' sign otherwise!

ah just checked GSV and it was bright red in 2009. It's degraded very quickly!

Complete with bonus (A538) which is needlessly duplicated.
