Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
I keep a look out for these! i noticed one last year near Hunts Cross station, Liverpool https://www.google.com/maps/@53.3597349 ... 312!8i6656

Good spot on that one, it blends into the bridge quite well. An old chevron sign next to it, too - did you notice if that was still there as well?
The one I saw was in Bethesda, Gwynedd. I've recently seen some of the smal, metal, lollipop-type of those discs on bridges so I'll try and get out and take some photos and post them here.

There's a few nice bollards of that type here. Some show signs of the red reflective patch on the other side.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
I drove past this last week and went back today to nab it
Quite battered, the disc on the reverse is in even worse condition. There is another of these on the opposite parapet but only the pole remains.Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
This second one is interesting - is that a post-Worboys patch on the right turn? Why? What was under it?
Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
It is, yes, that's Transport lettering. The number it shows is B7076, one of the numbers used for the bypassed lengths of A74 when the motorway opened, so A74 is what you'd find underneath.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
What an idiot. My only defence is that I'm working nights at the moment!
B7068 between Lockerbie and Langholm was the A709 until the early 70s, so A709 will be under the patch.

It must have been reported here before but this was a surprise.

A nice village sign near Shrewsbury and a restored direction sign near Tonbridge.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
Noticed some beautiful "pointy" 40 repeaters on the A65 today here:

The red has held up remarkably well, so not sure if they've been "refurbed" previously.
Cheers

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
I posted this as a SV link in the Manky Signs thread a while ago but managed to get out and take a photo of it.
Apologies for the poor quality pic, I am - fairly obviously - not a photographer, I just point my phone and press the button.

I don't know if this has been posted before but I spotted it the other day and managed to get back for a photo; a shame it's spoiled a bit by the Wynne sign.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
Is the blue square P parking sign pre Worboys?
The pre Worboys sign is still in Pickering.

Re: Pre-Worboys preservation campaign
If I'm ever in that part of the world I'd like to have a look at the back of the plates to see how old they really are. They don't use a design that was usual for pre-Worboys signs, and they look remarkably new, both in terms of how clean they look and in the mounting system on the rear of the sign face. I wonder if they're an attempt at a replica.
