Nice pics. Good to see decent acceleration and deceleration lanes.

No stopping for 120 miles. Is that a record?
Re: A9 Dualling: Luncarty to Pass of Birnam construction
The signs at Inveralmond Roundabout show 124 miles. At the other side, you can find the opposing 124 mile signs at the north end of the Cromarty Bridge.

Cheers. And welcome to SABRE.
Re: A9 Dualling: Luncarty to Pass of Birnam construction
Good to hear about the newly dualled section of the A9 opening next week. It’s been a couple of months since I’ve travelled along this stretch and it seemed then that the work was progressing well, certainly within the previous expected timescale lasting much of the rest of 2021.

Surprised to see tensioned cable crash barriers. I thought these were no longer installed due to the risk to motorcyclists.
Re: A9 Dualling: Luncarty to Pass of Birnam construction
I just drove down it tonight, 70 from the pass to inveralmond.Glen wrote:News release announcing that the road will fully open from Monday 30th of August

Because you change from 70s dual carriageway to 2020 dual carriageway and back to 70s dual carriageway it's quite striking the difference. Particularly at night with the new cats eyes on the new bit!
The bits of NMU that dip in and out of sight look like they're decent standard too but will reserve proper judgement until I figure out how to ride them rsther than jus tgo over by Moneydie.

They're still permitted where snow drifting is likely to be a major issue.swissferry wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 19:42 Surprised to see tensioned cable crash barriers. I thought these were no longer installed due to the risk to motorcyclists.

Why are all the 1/2m signs wrong?

But drifting snow isn't an issue between Perth and Dunkeld.Bryn666 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 10:05They're still permitted where snow drifting is likely to be a major issue.swissferry wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 19:42 Surprised to see tensioned cable crash barriers. Wow, part of the Scottish Midlands where wind and snow doesn't happen at the same time.

Travelled up last night (Perth to Inverness) - traffic south from Blair Atholl was very heavy because of the horse trials but little heading north.
Was pleased it’s open fully, I wondered if they would have a temporary ‘50’ on it until people got used to it, but I suppose many are irregular users anyway so wouldn’t make much difference.

Yes really.
It's the quantity of snow which causes drifts, and that's what is generally lacking here.

Re: A9 Dualling: Luncarty to Pass of Birnam construction
And the mileages aren't correctly aligned on the route confirmation sign.
Re: A9 Dualling: Luncarty to Pass of Birnam construction
Amazing that that bit shouldn't have the problem when the rest does. I mean only a few moths ago i drove to work only to be sent home due to roads all over Tayside and Fife being problematic due to drifting snow.IanRB wrote:Yes really.
