Different colours of streetlight heads
Recently I was surfing GSV in the past and saw some black Trafficvisions.

So It made me wonder what other colours different streetlights come in.
For example:
I have seen a Phillips Idrium in White (most common), black (second most common), grey and green.

Re: Different colours of streetlight heads
I think those examples have just been painted by hand to match the columns. GRP lanterns are usually white or pale grey and aluminium ones are silver or mid grey.
How would you like your grade separations, Sir?
Big and complex.

Trafficvision (Known as the Massilia in France) painted green: https://www.lighting-gallery.net/galler ... pid=105872
Re: Different colours of streetlight heads
Maybe green was a factory option

Before Kent's LED rollout there were a number of locations I recall having brown SGS203s
A solitary one still exists to this day for some reason.

The colour had faded somewhat from these examples

There were also some post top examples, IIRC around Maidstone/Tonbridge that also had the same finish. All likely gone now. I actually prefer the lantern in brown, looks less dull.

Here is a painted head: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.03415 ... authuser=0
Later on in life, the paint was removed.

A look to 2020 view shows time hasn't been kind to the paintjob... it's pretty much reverted back to factory finish!OliverH wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 15:20 Here is a painted head: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.03415 ... authuser=0

Re: Different colours of streetlight heads
They painted these crappy Vectras in Wakefield black but they somehow ended up turning forest green
They've since been repainted black.

Re: Different colours of streetlight heads
The old Phosco P222's on Roker Sea Front (Sunderland), as per my avatar are about the best examples I know of - having had three different paint schemes during their lifetime.
Black (from installation until 1992)
Red (1992 until circa 2010 - their most 'known' scheme)
Aqua Marine, as per my avatar (circa 2010 until their demise)
The columns are still in use today and their bases still have the final Aqua Marine scheme, of which on some of them you'll see the previous red scheme coming through.

The journey is never over until the arrival.

Re: Different colours of streetlight heads
LB Bromley had various lanterns in forest green to match the new columns about 15 years ago when a lot of the concrete ones were replaced. Many of these still exist but are slowly being replaced with LED.

Until you cross the border to Surrey, where they're exactly the same!

West Sussex is fairly similar too. Virtually no sodium to be seen in Hampshire.
Re: Different colours of streetlight heads
When the A289 was built in Medway the Lanterns were painted the same colour as the columns, Brown Thorn 2000's for the Wainscott bypass and Upnor road section. Black painted flat glass Philips SGS203's for the Medway tunnel to Gillingham gate section and blue for the Gillingham Gate to the Eastern terminus on the A2 Even the Heritage lanterns on the gad's Hill section have their canopies painted black to mach the columns. In some cases the LED spot replacements WRTL Luma and Thorn Isaro are painted either blue or black depending on location.
Re: Different colours of streetlight heads
talking of green. Does anybody know what this lamp head is: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.49340 ... 8192?hl=en
it looks similar to the Trafficvision
Also, does anybody know the head that was used at the roundabout just before?

This is close to where I live. The village I live in also uses them for some roads.
