OS Ten Mile Road Maps of Great Britain
For those folk who are unfamiliar with them, the OS Ten Mile Road Maps of Great Britain (or "OS Road Map of Great Britain") were the official maps showing the classified road network, taking over from the Ministry of Transport Road Maps from 1932 onwards. As such, they displayed as many classified roads as were practical, although their larger scale meant that shorter link roads were less well marked. Whilst the 1932 edition is relatively common, the remaining maps from the 1930s are much more rare to find.
Anyway, SABRE Maps has by far the largest online collection anywhere of these maps, to which the two sheets from 1937 have just been added, both to SABRE Maps itself and to the SABRE Maps sheetfinder.
Other than the completion of the A5117 just south of Ellesmere Port highlighted on the SABRE Facebook page, what other differences can people find?

Thanks for the upload Steven. Kincardine Bridge has appeared since the 1936 edition.

The road from Huntingdon to Colchester has changed from A132 to A604

Western Avenue goes almost all the way past Uxbridge.
The number is not given and it's marked with a thin red line despite being one of the highest quality roads in the country at the time.
The 1939 1" map has the A403 going to a junction just Norh of Uxbridge, the '37 1" map has it only going to a junction North of Southall.

If you've been paying close attention to the various Ten Mile Road Maps recently, you'll have noticed newer, cleaner scans being uploaded on the 1946 and 1956 layers - the former being especially nice as we no longer track someone's route across the entire northern sheet!

Re: OS Ten Mile Road Maps of Great Britain
One interesting quirk of the 1946 edition is that the A3075, A392 and A3059 route through Newquay is shown as trunk, before picking up the A39 to Barnstaple. Only a few years before, all roads to Newquay were B-roads.Steven wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 21:05 If you've been paying close attention to the various Ten Mile Road Maps recently, you'll have noticed newer, cleaner scans being uploaded on the 1946 and 1956 layers - the former being especially nice as we no longer track someone's route across the entire northern sheet!

Another curious quirk on the 1946 and 1948 maps is that the A46 is shown as trunk between Cheltenham and Stratford on Avon, when the Bath - Lincoln trunk road created in the 1946 act actually followed the A435 and A439 via Evesham. The 1955 and 1956 maps, by contrast, show the trunk road following the correct route.
